If you're not dead set on Flowmaster style mufflers, I've got a buddy that made a set of mufflers by using 3" tubing and drilling 1/4" holes all through it. He then cased it in a 5" square housing and stuffed it full of steel wool. I think the thing is about 5"x17" overall. I've been impressed with how it sounds, something like a cross between a glass pack and a flowmaster. It has a nice note with only a tiny bit of crackle. I'm sure you could adjust the dimensions in order to get a deeper tone with no crackle.

I've got a Hooker Aerochamber on my Bronco, and it seems that this is the basic design of it, straight through like a cherry bomb, but larger area of sound absorbent material.

I love that muffler that incorporates... actually is a cross.. damn I forgot what's the name of the balance pipe... anyway the two inlets become perforated pipes that cross inside of the muffler and exit opposite sides, with 2 outlets, like an X... you know what I mean don't you?.. and the thing is packed with glass wool.

I wonder how it performs and sounds.

Augusto.
