this distributor has a seperate box that the distributor wires plug into. three wires, one black, one green and one red come out of the box and need to go to the coil, ballest risistor ect. can anyone tell me how to wire this up. thanks

I have a Mallory 4248201 distributor and the "generic" instructions that are with this distributor show:

GREEN to NEG side of coil
RED through the ballast resistor to POS side of coil (your 12v ign switch wire also goes to the entrance side of the resistor)
BLACK....must be a ground wire. The diagram that shows "using an ignition ballast resistor", shows the 3rd wire as BROWN. If you're using an MSD box or similar, the wiring will be a bit different.

I tried to Google a wiring diagram for your distributor to point you to, but couldn't find one. I'm sure if you contact Mallory or maybe even Summit Racing, they could probably help you out in finding the correct diagram.
