I have an Accel HEI super coil on my 65 Chevelle and it works great. Just changed the cap and rotor on it and it worked like a charm. I don't know too much about mallory but I would go with an Accel Super HEI.
Good Luck

I have been running Mallory distributors for years. I have run their dual-points in Chevys and Fords and I'm running a Mallory Unilite in my Mustang now. I don't have any personal experience with Accel but if you look at this link Mr Gasket you will see that both Accel and Mallory are now owned by Mr. Gasket Co. I use Mallory because I have always been satisfied with them and with the Unilite distributor adding a multi-spark HyFire box should take minutes if I decide to buy one.
