the hammer doesn't fall that fast.. it was a long time coming..
there is a local company up here on the ropes.. the smart employees are beating the rush and looking for jobs in that industry before the hammer fails.. others will act shocked when it does finally fall.. but the signs have been there for that last few years.. some see the water coming in. and jump ship.. others watch it circle the drain and go "what happened"
more will follow in this companies footsteps as more and more food comes from china..YA CHINA.. and fold as the public buys the cheaper item..
the scary part is the amount of organic and natural foods that are coming over from china.. if they have antifreeze in baby formula.. the natural foods should be yummy...
I don't think I'll be buying any Chinese Twinkies. In fact if I see China on the label of any food it's not going in my grocery cart, ICK!!!

I just heard on the morning news that Twinkies are going for $3000 a box on the internet. I wish that I had that kind of money that I felt I could waste $3000 on a box of junk food. I sure as heck wouldn't be buying Twinkies with it.

Crash, I think those ?people? with that kind of mentality belong to the same ?tribe? that I saw camping out for a week waiting for Black Friday to arrive. One "IDIOT" even said that his family was going to bring Thanksgiving Dinner to his tent so he wouldn't lose his space in line. Kinda makes you wonder about the stability of this Nation don't it?

End of temporary hi-jack,
Em

There is a Hostess factory here in Denver. Hostess has been "unstable" for quite some time. With a negative 1% profit margin, Hostess shutting down seemed inevitable to me.

I am confused as to why only 41% of the union members voted? I bet that would change if they got a chance for a do-over.

Hang on folks it's going to be a bumpy ride for the good ole USA.
Apathy, the 59% that didn't vote probably figured the end was coming either way.

The problem is to be competitive Hostess needed to be more efficient.

Hostess management said work rules from existing labor agreements made it hard to improve productivity and spend money efficiently. For example, some rules required different workers to deliver bread and cakes, the company said. Twinkie Maker Hostess to Close - WSJ.com

What we, as a society, need to be focused on are (in order of importance):

1) Identification, prevention of child abuse in any form. As well as abuse in general.

2) Health and medical advancement.

3) Space exploration.

Not fussing over cake.

99.9% of the people here realize its about the people involved, not the cake.

Each post I have made has links to information lifted from various sources.

Comments like "What's wrong with you?" and "More company propaganda" add nothing to the dialouge of this thread, without some data to justify your position.

But it IS about the cake, man. If it weren't for the twinkies there would not be any controversy over jobs.

The problem is we are all putting the jobs before the cake. The very reason for the existence of the jobs was/is the cake.

(p.s.---this is funny---we got two separate arguments going on here.......) This, in itself makes the thread a winner. Not the topic of employment as it relates to hostess, again.
