There are a few options for manual trannys that'll handle 500 hp. The problem is that none of them are cheap. 500 hp is a lot of power. If you want to play you have to pay. The tko 600 would do the job well. Anything from g-force, liberty, or jerico would also work and would actually be overkill. A T56 should handle that power assuming it's in decent shape. If you're launching with slicks on the track, that could be a different story.

Yeah on the "overkill". The reason I went there was in view of the natural progression of things. He is talking about spraying 500 hp with another 150 for racing, that usually and eventually winds up with a guy launching on the bottle (and slicks) and after a season or two of the small blocks chasing him down, stepping on it again to make it go a little better. I won't be surprised to see him here in a couple of years asking for recommendations for gear boxes to handle 900 hp lol. I think that "G" Force prepared T56 will work pretty reliably without all that shaft flexing nonsense ruining his fun and it will retain it's value while delivering a couple of years of reliable performance even with some engine upgrades. That GF5R could be the last tranny the guy would ever need.
He did make mention of economics and the way I see it, setting it up right once is always cheaper then 3 or 4 times wrong. From where I sit and have sat, the Muncie will be the most expensive and the most disappointing one out of the bunch (long and very short term). Just my opinion. |

I totally agree. The g-force T56 looks awesome. And in the long run the extra money would be worth it. |
