Post March 22 the date for war??? Here's why it could be

George bush when in yale joined one of those dumb secret societies called skull and bones. Below is a part of what is said on a site about them. Will war be on 3/22? We'll find out soon enough, but many people on another bulleten board think it will be
[quote] From <a href="http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/2000/05/robbins.htm:" target="_blank">http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/2000/05/robbins.htm:</a>

THE story of Skull and Bones begins in December of 1832. Upset (according to one account) by changes in the Phi Beta Kappa election process, a Yale senior named William Russell and a group of classmates decided to form the Eulogian Club as an American chapter of a German student organization. The club paid obeisance to Eulogia, the goddess of eloquence, who took her place in the pantheon upon the death of the orator Demosthenes, in 322 B.C., and who is said to have returned in a kind of Second Coming on the occasion of the society's inception. The Yale society fastened a picture of its symbol -- a skull and crossbones -- to the door of the chapel where it met. Today the number 322, recalling the date of Demosthenes' death, appears on society stationery. The number has such mystical overtones that in 1967 a graduate student with no ties to Skull and Bones donated $322,000 to the society.

(The number 322 has also been a particular favorite of conspiracy-minded hunters for evidence of Skull and Bones's global connections. It was the combination to Averell Harriman's briefcase when he carried classified dispatches between London and Moscow during World War II. Antony C. Sutton claims that 322 doubles as a reminder of the society's mother organization in Germany; the American group, founded in 1832, is the second chapter -- thus 32-2.)

They made a movie about them. Wasn't that good of a movie, but it had a beautiful woman, some cool cars and a duel! Can't beat an old fashioned duel! The movie didn't hit on any actuall society practices, but it used the same theme "exclusivity" and Skulls. One thing that was really funny about this movie I thought was the initiation ritual. Purification through pain has been done for hundred of thousands of years, but this made me giggle. Their society, the Skulls was supposed to be this top secret thing that everyone talked about in school, but no one else in the whole town knew about it. The real kicker was that the initiation was your wrist gets a small skull birnt into it with a red hot poker. Now that alone would be idiotic for a secret society, but right after they get burnt they put a watch over it to conceal it and walk calmly out. Yeah, sure uh huh, I want to see that. Sure peter go eat another pumpkin.

Honey, whats that skull on your arm? Oh, nothing...I...uh...tripped and fell onto a hot valve stem.

It doesn't surprise me that you posted that link (dead on my end?) when a much more suitable article for you was in the same publication;

<a href="http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/17dec/robinson.htm" target="_blank">You should have read this article Dave.</a>

It's from a more ancient time when the world was much more nieve, 1917 to be exact. It talks about "The Threatened Eclipse of Free Speech", a must read.

It's cool. I fly to the Keys on the 21st, so if it hits the fan, I'm staying. <img src="graemlins/mwink.gif" border="0" alt="[mwink]" />

Interesting article 4jaw. Although I think the only word he didn't pull out of his OED for the article was 'pedantic'.

That was pretty flowery even for 1917. I have to assume he was getting paid by the word.

Or perhaps by the comma.

Unhappy

Skulls & Crossbones...
hmmm...
now where have I seen that before?
Oh, yes, when i was 5 and played Pirates we used to have a flag with skulls&crossbones!
Unless, of course. somebody has bones to the side of the skull IOI or slanted /O\ or over&under
(easy over, like fried eggs?)
Nah, never mind that chatter.
President Clinton wanted to start "a new world order" and look where that got him. Pres. Bush wants to start a war in somebodyelse's back yard (Europe's back yard) and Europe is saying "Hell no, you must be crazy!" (OK so England and Spain seem trigger happy but they are sooo far away I doubt any bagdaddy missile would ever get that far.
But look at Nations with huge islamic communities, like France or Germany. Who would want to start a civil war? Remember what happened to the Japanese communities in the western US in 1942?
No, I believe it won't be march 22 or even the next day.
As a famed chinese strategist once said, "the clever warlord is not he who defeats his enemy in battle, but he who talks his enemy into surrender" (Sun Tzu, circa 600 BC)
And anyway, with all the problems caused by cocaine etc., why not return to Colombia? THAT would be a good and justified reason for attack.
M.
