Anyway, ever since Nightrider posted that picture of the custom 61 Caddy I've been thinking that it would be cool and do a "long and low" category. The kind of car that when you look at it the first thing that comes to mind is "damn, that's a lot of wet sanding". Any make or model.
The March Contest Begins today in this thread, please post your artwork and more so have fun with Doodlers challenge. The voting will begin on March 26th and end 5 days later as the polls are set to close automatically and decide a winner.
OK, every time I start in on another illustration, someone else posts theirs, and I have to start over!! :smash: Not because they have picked what I was drawing, but because their designs are so good, I am rethinking my own work..thinking, "what can I submit that would compete?" Maybe I could convince Chip Foose to "doodle" me up something.. HA!

Scrapin, you'll never get anywhere not trying or beating yourself up about competition, I learned that early in martial arts. As long as you try I think anything someone does is a winner. Art is in the eye of the beholder.
Oh, I am still trying, trust me..And about the "beating myself up", :spank: I am my own worst critic..But if anything, I think that'll just make me push myself harder..(Or to drinking...) either way can't be that bad!
I also learned the humbling life lesson that no matter what you do in life, someone will be able to be just a tad better at it than you :nono: ..That has always kept me from being "too proud"..
My comment was meant to be a joke...I have fun doing this competition, even if I never get any votes!

That's a great outlook then scrapin, I don't think any of us are in real competition just having fun, this one for me is good since I've been doing web sites and it's much more fun than looking at code all day, lol. This is Marks fun time.

Agreed! I usually draw the initial round of mine while I'm watching movies on the couch. I only really have 2 hobbies, drawing and cars. So this is perfect!
But for now i'll have to sit out. Over the years my hands have taken a beating. Some days writing so it can be read is hard as my fingers don't follow the brain waves . Maybe when I get my truck done I'll put in one of the contests for the paint job as I can still scallop and such with tape.
57, you're killing me, lol. First Doodler grabs the 47 Caddy so I jump on a 50 Buick special, darned if you don't have one already. Very nice work. Looks like I have nothing else but the one I just finished, we all must be on the same page lately. Another 50 Buick coming up, lol.

Don't sell yourself short Doodler, some of the cleanest line work I've seen and classy looking. Just take a look at how much people are charging for supposed bunch of clipart or line graphics. ost are generic junk and really just made to color in for a sign or something. Yours is original good stuff so far.
How crazy was that 57 that you did the same car !!
I think I counted eight entries so far, still waiting on forty that would make nine.
If a Mod or Admin is looking at this, The polling only allows 10 entries, they would have to up the limit on the polling if it goes higher than 10. Maybe I'll shot Poncho62 a PM or something if it does go higher.

Oh I know. I'm starting a company called "3Deuce" that specializes in car-toon art/shirts. I've drawn just shy of 150 cars. Each of which I'd go farther on, since I (like just about every other artist) doesn't know when enough is enough.
I just said that because once again, there is no clear cut stand out. Nice work everybody!

There's a very large Kult group out there that digs this art. I'm sure you have many different styles. Shirts are a great seller when you add in images. One of my favorite but not the same style as yours, he does do that though is http://wickedgrafixx.com/wickedgrafixx.html
Yea, no kiddin. I can't wait for next month. I know winner gets to choose, but I would like to see a Tri-Five Contest. (Tri-Five as in 55,56,57 Chevy) But I'm a 55 man. So we'll see.
Same here. I have a ton of webstuff and articles to write for some magazines, this stuff is purely relaxation for me, a time to think and create ya know. I always feel that everyone on here does a fine job witht the tools they choose to use, pen, pencil, paint or computer. It's all art in ome form or another, alot less can be siad for the photography world which I do also, there's a composed picture and a snapshot, I wish they would figure it out, lol.
