Marine Distributor

I know that boatbob2. Seeing that this is a hotrod site, I needed to see if anyone had experence in marine applications. The issue at hand is I have no spark after replacing the stock distributor that was converted to electronic with a pertronix kit for SBC motor, with a Mallory YLM624AV distributor. I connected the new distributor per the instructions that came with the distributor. I have replaced the old coil with a new one recommended for the Mallory. Whoever owned the boat prior to my getting it, converted the stock distributor and for some reason connected a wire running from the starter to the neg side of the coil. Wondering if you might have ideas what else my might need to check. Thanks for the reply.

The distributor should only need one 12v power supply that connects to the "Batt" terminal on the distributor and a good ground.

rotation

A very common issue with distributor replacement is getting it the correct position related to the correct piston position.
Make sure the rotor is at #1 cylinder on the compression stroke.
Also, on some twin screw boats one engine will rotate in reverse. The distributor is built differently because of this. You may have the wrong rotation distributor.
