i feel that she is a sorry liberal biotch, but i do have to say that i would have done the same. and i think that i'm not the only one on this board that thinks that way.
some may tell me how wrong i am, but if it came down to it, YOU KNOW THAT YOU WOULD TOO.

It is true that a lot of the CEOs and higher ups break the rules. Some people are asking why they pinpointed Martha. Who Cares?
Her case will help set precedence. She should have a star on the Enron walk of fame.

She is rich, so I couldn't care less. They should lock her in a BMW
and set it on fire!

Isn't she supposed to be the modern icon of the 'successful modern woman'?

If so, she deserves more than criminal charges for trying to brainwash american women into being happy little homemakers. Dumb 'ol hag.

Angry I would not!!!

Sorry AKM, but I do NOT agree with you. If I were in a position of power and had her wealth I wouldn't feel the need to cheat. Even if I had the info she had ahead of time, I would not do what she did because it is AGAINST THE LAW. I would do my trading the way it's supposed to be done.
People with her wealth and power have got to be held accountable for their actions because if they are not, what's to stop the rest of the world from saying, what the he!!, they did it, I'm going to do it to. What kind of world would we live in then?
It's no different from the OJ Simpson trial or any other celebrity. Why should they get treated differently because of who they are? I know lots of people who are way more special and talented than some of our so-called "celebrities", but they don't get treated differently because they aren't wealthy.
I'm tired of the double standard that allows the wealthy to make their own rules and thumb their noses at the rest of society. Being rich doesn't make you special, being a human being does.

Chickie.

Double Standards

Double Standards.

The only thing I seen Martha Stewart do is lie.

Dubya lies. Willie Jeff Clinton lied. ALL politicians lie. Remember Tricky Dick..."I am not a crook!" JFK lied. FDR lied. None of these guys did any time. Funny thing how when some rich woman lies, she needs to be made an example of.

I think Dubya should be locked up for his lies. After all, his lies have got a number of good men and women dead.

If you do it to one, do it to all of them.

Thumbs down DOUBLE STANDARDS ll

She was not charged with any kind of fraud in her investments. She was charged with lies to the FBI and SEC. If she has to spend time in prison for telling lies, I think it only fitting that pervert Clinton should spend some time in Ft. Levenworth for the same offense. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

coming from a woman (they normally do the right thing) whom seems a little more open minded then most, i would have to say that i would believe that statement. i'm just not that way.
if i knew that i was going to loose thousands if not millions of dollars, no matter how rich i was, i would take steps to prevent that from happening.
its not a greed thing either.
as much as i hate that old witch, she has done a lot with her life, made a lot of money herself by playing her cards right.
if i were in her shoes, and that was MY money that I earned; yes i would do the same thing even if i knew that i was screwing others. call me a POS, but its human nature to protect your investments and take actions to save/make more money.

just my opinion

Is Martha going to jail?

I've been studying for an exam, so I've been away from the TV and computer for a few days. The last I heard was that she was found guilty on all counts, but I never heard what the sentence was.

I figured she would be used as an example, because she turned down a deal of $200,000 fine and probation, if she pleaded guilty. That is the reason behind the sentencing, not the fact that she was guilty. Rich people do not have to go to jail if they play the game.

So what was the sentence?

I believe June 15TH is the sentencing date. I think she'll probably do the minimum time but every charge carried a min. of 5 and max. of 20 years. obstruction of justice, lying to the FBI, and so on. I'm sure with appeals and our wonderful justice system (for the rich) she'll get probation or end up getting off. Or for once justice will be blind!

I think at this point, whether she actually does any real time or not, her life is ruined. Let's think about this a minute.....
1. She's an American icon
2. She's a women's role model
3. She has several product lines in various stores all over the world.
4. She's now convicted felon.

How many people do YOU think are going to want her brand name in their home knowing that their hard earned money fueled her greed and in essence encouranged her illegal activities. She may still be Martha Stewart, but from now on I think her name is MUD.

Just my .02

Chickie.

P.S. Just wait and see how long it takes the stores who carry her product lines to drop them, once her sentencing is complete. What CEO in their right mind is going to want their stores' name associated with that of a convicted felon??? Think about it.....could be bad for business.
