Matching a engine to my 66phone impala ss

I have a 1966plan impala ss

It didn't have a motor when i bought it. I have been trying to
find what motor came with the car. I know it was a big block
But which one ??
I found a engine with number 3855961 p
Is this a 1966work 396 and would it be correct for my impala??

This post is hard to understand, if you can find the VIN from the car, that may help you find what it came with. There are VIN decoders all over the internet, Google it.

There are sights which have the numbers for engines you just have to search google. My thoughts are why worry so much about matching the year or motor size if the car is not original it is not going to be no matter what. May as well build the big block you want unless you are building it to sell. I went with a 496 muh more fun then 396 good luck
