material to us as a backing
Hello..
I'm working on my 1984 INDY500 pace car.. Yes it's a fiero... STOP LAFF'in.... o.k. you got the coffee off the screen and are now able to breathe.. I'm adding a sound system and in these cars. there isn't room for normal sized speakers.. they are tiny.. so it sounds like a old transistor radio.. I'm not adding this for the boom boom boom.. but to get a little of the full range of music back.. the dash will have 5.25" seperates.. and behind the seats.. the seats themselves have 3.5" in the headrest, that will at somepoint need to be replaced. as theysound like the cones are ripped.. anyways.. to my issue.. this is going in the center colsole http://a248.e.akamai.net/origin-cdn....jpg?1335345863 I want to use a tee shirt or sweatshirt front with a design on it.. to cover it from , you know.. and thats not really that hard.. the problem is the material is following the speaker round outline.. what can I use under the tee shirt/sweatshirt materail to give it enough strength that it doesn't follow the speaker outline but at the same time isn't so stiff that it won't lay up against the console.. and because it's at your arms. not so stiff that it scratches the crap out of your arms in the summer.. wife was thinking something like felt.. or a beading of some sort to help the material not form around the speaker top.. ideas welcome.. and yes it's for a pontaic fiero.. no really.. |
no one has any ideas

How about forming some wire screening to the shape you want, then covering the screening with the t-shirt material?
