I had the regular gun and than the belt system gun.
They had the same tip as the chrome gun witch is the newest and mine were black. The belt gun was about $2500 if I remember right and this must have been ten years ago. The regular gun was about $400+ back than. These guns at the time were way ahead of other hvlp as far as spraying. The nice part about the gun is the head (whole unit) was easy to pop off the gun and clear or change size. The gun at that time came with a base tip and a clear tip. Have not seen one of these in years. Sold mine to the Cadillac dealer in Augusta, shortly after I bought them. Don't remember why I did that?? |

I had a sphon feed model that used a pressurized cup. Had the black and gold caps. Cleaning this thing was a PITA so it hung in the cabinet most of the time. It did spray nice though! I sold it on ebay for less than half what I paid for it.

Yes, I thought there nozzle cartridge idea was neat.......reason I'm asking is because I have a friend that works at a pawn shop, and they recently received 2 unused sets of these guns......there asking price is $150 each. Even though that is half the retail price online, I'm sure my friend can hook me up with a lower price.
![]() but are they any good? by the way, I believe the tip setups that come with the guns are .8 and 1.0 .......that's pretty small, but then again were talking about presser feed....who knows? |

I really don't remember what tip sizes I had but if I were to guess I think 1.3 or 1.4. Definately not .8 or 1.0. It's been about ten years since I used that gun but I'm sure the tip wasn't that small. Bob

The tip size for a pressure feed is typically smaller then for gravity or siphon. I had a tip comparison size link somewhere, but don't know where it is offhand. I have a pressure feed accuspray, and the tip is smaller then 1.3. I don't know what the exact size is, would have to look. I use it only for base though.

OK I've sprayed with both style mattson's the regular style gun in my opinion sprayed much better.. the shop I used to work at had one and I liked if for base.. I like it enough to buy the gravity fed ones. the gun came with two tip sets which was cool cause you just unscrewed a knob and twisted it and it came off to put the other head unit on... But I didn't like that style nearly as much, it was harder to clean, the check valves kept going bad which caused it to not spray correctly, if you somehow kinked a air line and pulled the trigger it would shoot a stream of paint... never had it happen on a job or anything,, I just remember joking that i could use it as a squirt gun to shoot paint all over the boss..lol... but most importantly I didn't like the way it sprayed so It was definetely not worth all the other hassles that came with it.. but on a lighter note, I sold the set on ebay for like $250.00 so if you can buy both of them for let's say $200.00 go for it, and then get rid of them on ebay..lol..

Thanks for the info...
I know I would be getting them for cheap, but it isn't much of a bargain if they are just going to sit on the shelf.........but you are right, there is always Ebay
