Max valve lift (chevy)
I'm in the process of rebuilding a Chevy crate 350 (made in Mexico). I'm fairly confident the heads are 76cc with 1.94 intakes. I was considering installing a Crane cam with a 278 degree advertised duration and a .467 lift . Will this stock heads handle this lift without any modifications?

You should always put valve springs that match the cam on the heads. And change valve seals wile your there. I don't think .467 lift would give you a problem otherwise.Check piston/valve clearance & coil bind.

You should be safe up to around 500 lift with out mods.but it always a good Ideal to check clearances,a liitle extra time but Id rather be safe than sorry,PS Ive never had any problems up to 510 lift on a small block chevy.just a opinion (wrenchturner) ;) :D I agree with 78 monte change your springs and seals

I was hopeing to get by with the factory heads until I could spring for a set of Vortec's. And I did not want to have to buy another cam just to run the factory heads.
