MC helmet paint

Ok here is a question for the pros, what paint do you use foe a motorcycle helmet, i have a couple of chips in the paint and if i get pulled over it will cost a big fine, i really dont want to spend 500 bucks on a new helmet just because of a few scratches,

so i figured i could re paint it, but i dont want to use somthing that will soften the fibreglass and degrade the safety..

the reason i ask is that painting a helmet is against the law here, the police sais that it can soften the shell (is that true for fibreglass or just molded plastic helmets) you cant even put stickers on it.....

helmet is a Shoei txr

after posting i got the idea of calling shoei... pretty slick huh??? they said anything acryllic.... so im thinking, why not find a nice semi flat black and do the bike and helmet in one outing... what is the best acrylic to use... its only a helmet and a tank and 2 fenders so price is almost not an issue, (and what is the best filler, and build primer that will match??)

You can't paint your helmet or put stickers on it? Man! I thought we had some weird laws. Yours are worse. Here's one my kid just painted. It dosen't have the clear coat on yet.

Holly cow on the law!

By the way they are wrong.
I'm just glad our politicians aren't telling us how to paint corvettes over here!

that were my thoughts exactly. but i guess that the helmet retailers arent the first to voluntere the information that a helmet can be repaintet, if that means they will sell less helmets....

anyway ill give it a try..

It doesn't really matter for the fiberglass helmets. The molded plastic ones are the ones you have to worry about.
