Measuring Wheel Stud Knurl

What's the proper way to measure press in wheel stud knurl?

I ordered a set of Moroso studs listed as .480 after measuring the axle hole at .476, and needless to say that's not going to do it. They just "fall" into the axle hole with .025 of side play. The next size up Moroso studs are listed at .560, the stock studs measure .492 so that leaves me wondering if .068 is to large.

I'm not stuck on Moroso studs, just using a Summit catalog for reference so another brand or source would be welcome.
