Mechanical fuel pump

Hello,
How much hp does a mechanical fuel pump with the light rod rob? I 'm trying to decide if I want electrical or mechanical fuel pump.

Thanks

It hardly robs anything. The electric fule pump though can add more power and throttle response. Holley makes an electric fuel pump that works great. You can set the pump at the p.s.i. you would like it at and it's a pretty reliable pump.

If this is for an around town car I would just stick with the mechanical pump but if it's for a project that is for all go, I'd go with the electric fuel pump.

An electric pump "robs" power also, by way of the alternator.

Pump

[color=red]Doc Here

The only Absolute Way to gain a 0 hp robbing pump, is to go Electric run from a battery without a Charging system, (No Alternator) Of course you have to charge the battery Every night at home.

For about 1/2 to 1 horsepower... on a streeter, It just ain't worth the headaches...
