Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge Problem

Before I throw this gauge out and buy a new one I wanted to ask if there is any thing else I can do to fix it? With zero pressure the oil pressure gauge does not return to zero, it stays on 25. The pressure tube is not connected. I tried blowing air and the pointer would not move. I tried applying vacuum and it only moved a 1/16" or so but never returned to zero.

Is there any thing else to do?

Thanks,
BT

Nothing you can do, the mechanism is "sprung", a typical result with cheap gauges. What brand is it??

gage

Throw it away. To much to go wrong if the gage decides to not work again and you destroy the engine because of it.

It's SunPro. It came installed in the 70 LeMans I bought. I don't think it's a expensive gauge. I will pick up another gauge.

Thanks,

Typical problem with old Sunpro and Suntune gauges. These are what i would consider "cheap". Good ones are AutoMeter, Stewart-Warner, and VDO.
