Media Blasting Wheels?

Just a quick question. I have checked the achives, and couldn't really come up with a good answer. Anyway, I need to blast some aluminum wheels that are to be powdercoated and was wondering what would be the best media to use. I'm using glass beads now, and it takes forever to remove the factory paint, but leaves a really nice surface behind. I'm afraid sand or aluminum oxide may leave too rough of a finish to powdercoat on. I would like to buy local, so here is what Northern Tool has...

Does Harbor Freight carry anything in their stores that would be better?

Thanks,
Jamie

why not use mineral spirts or some other paint thinner ..... so that there is less chance of pitting the wheel just check it on a pop can to make sure that its compatable with aluminum.

The factory finish paint must be baked on, because even Aircraft Stripper won't even touch it.

Could be powdercoat on those wheels now..In any case any kind of blasted finish can be powder coated..Try blasting on the back side of the wheel first or maybe on a scrap wheel to see the results. when you are happy go for it on the wheels that are keepers..
