hi,

Someone know someting about mega raptor trans ?

http://www.transmissioncenter.net/700megaraptor.htm

I want to know if its a reliable source ?
Reliable product ?

I have a turbo 350 currently and may be the trans will not last whit 800hp+ engine and if i change i want to go whit a 700r4 to have the overdrive like original one.. I have a 700R4 in hand but its stock so i dont think it will be strong enough..

Or anyone have a sugg. to buy the best 700R4 possible ?

Don't buy a Mega Raptor 700R4. I own one and would'nt buy another. Buy the heavy duty parts and have someone in your area build it for you. Do a search for this company (PATC) Raptor 700, etc, on this forum, this subject has been discussed before.

I have done some search but nothing that can help to make a safe choice as now...

I have found couple of place for 700r4 and still trying to find/choice a reliable one... I have seen bad comment on google about ArtCarr still looking for more info..

http://www.700r4.com/

http://www.artcarr.com

Any other info appreciated...

As of build one locally, i dont know a knoledgeable place i can trust for a Hi Perf. transmission as now near me..

If you are planning to run more than 500 hp? you might want to look at a 4L80E or turbo400 instead? a 700R4 cannot take much more than 500HP!

This where i am right now...

Turbo 400 doesn 't have and overdrive,
4L80 should be the answer 3800$ outch...
And the problem is : does a 4L80 will fit in my Transam 1984 ?

As i understand, the 4L80 would be manual body, this mean i will have to shift , no more automatic.. No prob whit that, i have already a B&M shifter that can do this and fit this trans...

The problem is, No after market crosmenber found... and i have a sponh tork arm to adapt as well... Lot of fitting to do... and not 100% sure this will fit my T/A 84 ???

More info will be appreciated if anyone can help on that...!

The 4L80`s automatics were installed in chevy 1 ton trucks(dualy`s) around 94 and up ! if you can get one of those I`am sure there is a stand alone aftermarket device that will control the shift points ? the other option is the turbo 400 with a gearvendor under/over drive unit? I have one installed in my 88 T/A which as you know is the same Gen F body as your`s? see my photo galery!

I found the baby !
Fully Manual !

same guys that build the mega raptor
http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4l80e.htm

4000$

But i have to build a custom crossmember, no one do a crossmember for this trans. on a F-body 82-92...

but i will go for it and build someting custom... Just need to store some money before... I think the Quadzilla would be my choice i want the overdrive very mutch

if over drive is all you need for a tb400 try the after drive products.

may be i'm wrong , but in my opignion its impossible to put this on a F-body...
This is far too long.. Need room for the tork arm... And at 2200$ i would go whit the manual 4L80 i think..

Crosley : the torque is a custom build can handle nitrous & supercharger up to 1200HP !

it is all steel, you cut and weld it. Need more space for the tranny? Cut the floor aout , then replace it..... I did this on my 1961 Dodge Lancer that I installed a small block chev & t-350

the torque arm..... build a custom one. It is done all the time. We built a custom torque arm for a Firebird diff under a 48 Buick

It will fit! with the torque arm instaled! as i stated earlier in this post I have this unit instaled in my 3rd gen T/A! it is tight! but it fits! :smash: Also I would like to add chevy instaled the gearvendors at the factory with a turbo 400 on the Caloway corvette in 88-89 because the 700R4 could not handle the beefed up engine! the only overdrives available where the 700R4 and 2004R back then!

By curiosity, can you post some pics of your setup ?

I run whit a spohn tork arm and seeing the free space i doubt i can fit this here unless i cut the tork arm etc.. (& i dont want to do that)..
