megasquirt question

I bought a used ms1 v2.2 with a flyback board but the flyback board was cut off. How do I rewire it on and is there any disadvantage to reconnecting it? I can't think of why he would have cut it off.

They sell this preassembled or as a kit you put together. If you can get the instructions sheet for it, you should be good to go.
Or if someone has one that will post a pic of the inside, you could use that to determine your connections.
or maybe this will help
http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html
Or look around. Maybe they can e mail a guide or assembly guide or ??
Actually I just looked again and the full assembly guide is listed in the menu on the left side of the page.Good luck

My understanding of flyback is that it is better to have it in any case. It is suppose to speed and better control injector timing. I am rusty on this, but from what I understand the injectors basically recoil energy back into the circuit board when they open and close. This energy needs to be redirected, usually back to ground. I used to have a better grasp on it, but I have not looked at a schematic in at least 5 years.

I would go to the megasquirt board and ask there. They will be able to help and give better answers.

X 2 what TurboS10 said. For low impedance injectors it should not be necessary, but it does speed the closing of the injectors making Idle speed control a little simpler and better quality.
Also if you intend to install nitrous and a second injector on each cylinder it is a must to have as 2 injectors increase the flyback voltage when the injectors are turned off.
