Can your M22Z gearset and Super Case handle the torque of a mild 427, which I'm guessing would be 450-500 lb/ft? My buddy wants to build a Grumpy Jenkins tribute car using a 69 Camaro that his dad bought in the 70s. It won't be a racer, just a cruiser.

Axle ratio is currently 5.13, but he's looking to go with 3.08 or 3.31, depending on tire height. If the M22Z's low gear can handle the 427's torque, it would seem to be the perfect trans for a guy who wants to have a period correct 4-speed, but still do some cruising.

Also, which companies can you recommend for an assembled M22Z trans? How about Paul at 5speeds.com? His assembly video is very impressive.

    Cool car, huh? Zero rust.

Thanks for taking time to reply to my "? on painting a 32" post. It is greatly appreciated. Your paint knowledge is obvious by your replies. Your experience with Porsche "guards red" and preference for Viper red was interesting, as I photographed a 32 painted Sikkens 2003 Viper red that I liked along with the Guards red. Viper red was two stage and Guards red was single stage. The single stage red just has a different look to it, and in a good way. I'm still undecided on a two tone paint scheme, but have drawn away from the silver for reasons you stated. I keep thinking back to Barry Lobeck's two tone paint schemes he had on 32's over the years. These were some of my favorites, but might not fit my Henry Ford stock appearing build. Have a good one.

thanks for posting on the chevy II drag thread. I think he is fixated on horse power before making the car work? The inconsistent car will give him mixed messages and his tuning will take a lot longer and he will spend more money that required in the long run. Also thanks for posting actual gear set figures. I think a steeper launch gear and excellent hook will net a very big improvement. What is your opinion over all? Do you thin he will listen or just do random things?

Your trans knowledge is obviously extensive, so, wondering if you know if a Richmond 5speed can be made into an overdrive version and if its practical compared to getting a new 5spOD.

I didn't get a chance to thank you properly for the tour. I wish I wasn't in such a hurry to leave, but you know how bosses can be. I look forward to getting back together. I'm thinking if we can keep our rear end stuck together we'll make a visit to ESTA this summer with our car and friend with a V6 supercoupe setup in an LTD wagon. I'll let you know if we plan to make it up there.

Thanks again and be sure to thank your boss. I would've never guessed what you guys are making there. It was really neat and interesting.

You mentioned to me previously to stop in and say hello the next time I'm in Syracuse. Well, I've got a company thing on Thursday in town. Let me know your work address and I'll stop in sometime in the morning if you have the time - Jim

Hi Autogear.........Thanks for the info, its everything I need. Now I've got to find a clutch pedal that will work with a cable setup or one that will work with a hydraulic setup. Thanks again....Bob

    Hi,

Sorry to bother you but it appears you are the resident transmission expert,,, i have a BW ST-10 and while installing the shifter, it became apparent the transmission will not shift into 2nd gear, all other gears and reverse engage fine,, no amount of manipulating the input and out shafts allow the trans to go into 2nd,,, no apparent damage inside, syncros look decent,,, simply fix or complete tear down?

    Thank you,
    Dave
