I just have to say a huge "THANK YOU !!!" to all of the folks who helped me and guided me during this hot rod build>>>> there is NO WAY I could have done this by myself.... I did do more on this project than I thought possible, but NOT with out their help !!!! It's been a blast !!!!! lets all go cruising now !!!!!!
the truck has been in the shop since Febuary and its coming along nicely... I had to get a hot~rod shop to do my work for me since I can't do the work any longer.. I hate not being able to, but I can't physically do the work, nor do I have a place to do it !!! big BUMMER !!! so here is a few pics of it in construction if I am able to download the pics.... if I can do that,it will probably be a miracle, since I am not real good with a computer anyway !! LOL !!! so here goes......
truck is in the shop now ... I don't have anywhere to work on it anymore ... so I am going to bite the bullet and have a shop do it for me..Bummed but I don't really have any choice .. they are going to do almost all of the mechanicals for me...I'll finish the rest as I can...hopefully .... next up is new glass fr & back yaaaa !!
I am rolling now, the Doc has released me from his care !!Yaaahooo !!now I can get started..I picked up the trans crossmember & front swaybar w/brackets yesterday..got the flex fan recommended by Jags R Us.. waiting on the correct spacer I ordered(this evening)...also ordered the rear swaybar out of an S10 Extreme from the junkyard...He said he would do an interstate search for it..hope he can find it,gotta have it !!have not ordered the cam kit yet.decided to wait until the $$$ issues settled down..(Doc. bills)..trying to decide whether to replace the heads with Aluminum heads with the HD springs & screw-in studs or have the iron heads re-worked...??? I don't want to spend a ton of $$ ,but on the other hand I don't want to do it half way either....sometimes I hate making these decisions ,LOL...will the trade off of less weight really be worth the expense ???for some of you guys lucky enough to be able to afford the best, great !.. we'll see...happy cruisin !!
hey guys and gals ,, I am in the dumps big time......Have to have yet another surgery,,a screw is backing out of the steel plate and has to be removed...If it was legal I would shoot the doctor in his ankle and say"Thats what I have been trying to tell you " I should have told him to put some locktite on it so this would not happen...this is the second time a screw has backed out.... so no wrenching for me yet...yeah I know "quit yer whining already"....enough said on that subject.. still have not ordered the cam kit yet...money ,money, money is the problem right now....but it is high on my 'bucket list'...very high !!Im trying to plan on getting at it in the fall, hopefully(yeah I said this before) when it cools off some...the heat here in Ga. is pretty high along with the killer humidity ....those are my reasons (not excuses) for not doing anything on my poor ole truck....It sits on the hill behind my house looking so forlorn and sad....hmmmmm.......happy cruisin everyone !!
this is my 3rd S10 as I bought it.I have a short list(probably get longer) to do before its safe to drive.trans crossmember, driveshaft, r&r overdrive trans, and of course a slightly bigger cam, etc, etc. y'all know how it goes..gotta wait for busted ankle to mend from surgeries, then away I go,and hopefully the truck will too...LOL I have gotten lots of excellent advice from the guys on this website and many thanks for that..now my next decision is what to do about the red interior, totally red and Im not fond of red at all..re~dye it or live with it??the outside paint is not that big of a deal, I can change that easier than the interior...looking forward to working on it & going to shows(dont want trophy's) & cruisin's...If anyone has a S10 or comments about S10's ,contact me ...maybe we can help each other with parts and/or advice..happy cruisin!!
I have decided to order my cam kit(with everything, lifters, springs, etc.) in 2 weeks, if I do not blow my budget ..Already have the 2" lowering kit ie spilndles, blocks with the proper angled shims to maintain correct drive line angle.I am also going to install koni-gas-adjust shocks all around..I have used these on 3 other projects and liked them for handling and ride control..They are by far better for me than bilstiens.I dont like the others made for lowered trks as they are extrmely stiff and Im too old for that jarring slam !! I also plan to search for an extreme S10 in the "yards" for swaybars and steering gearbox to up the handling..I have already installed a steering wheel from a chevy cavalier for the smaller wheel to gain in slightly tighter turning ratio.I have found this to work very well as a "poor mans" gearbox..
