First of all Jeremy, you don't adjust static compression ratio with the head gasket thickness. That's bad engineering. To change SCR, you use a different piston or a different chamber size. The head gasket thickness is used to set the squish dimension, which is the sum of the piston deck height and the gasket thickness. On a SBC, shoot for 0.035" to 0.045" squish. Do you know how far down in the bore the piston crown is, with the piston at top dead center? That is the piston deck height and you really need to know that dimension before you begin choosing a head gasket.
hey i was wondering if you could help me out on a head gasket selection i have a chevy 350 with flat tops and 73cc chevy 993 heads i need to get as close to 9.5:1 as possible any info will help thanks!
