Picture shows bare metal before I started

This picture shows the "guidecoat" that I use to find the highs and lows. Same idea as when blocking primer prior to paint.

Picture hows after I ran a block over the metal showing the damage. the shiny metal is the high spots and black areas are the lows that I will bring up.

Picture shows the track marks from the hammer and dooly process. If you look at the black areas you will see small spots of shiny metal inside the black areas. This is a KEY process to metal finishing, seeing what you are doing.

Picture showing the process. Did some hammer work then ran the block over the metal again. As you can see the size and number of black spots is getting smaller.

Good picture of the process and damage getting smaller and smaller.

Picture after the shrinking disc has been applied to the metal. The shrinking disc lows any high spots in metal, by causing friction which in turn causes heat which in turn again causes the metal to shrink or compress

Another shot of the disc work. As you can see the metal is pretty darn straight. At this point you could prime the metal block sand and prime again then paint. But we are going for a level of smoothness that needs just 3 coats of primer then paint.

Picture of fender after two rounds of disc work and hammer work. This section of fender is done and ready for paint. But in all reality I would work the whole fender rather then do them in sections.

Link to entire photo process, its very basic but another album within shows the tools that I used on a 72 truck fender,

Thanks for looking and enjoy...Eric
