The metalman's been hidin'

Hi Guys and Gals

I've been keeping my distance for the past couple weeks, trying to finish up some projects. This is one that I just finished Saturday, at around noon, loaded up and headed for Frog Follies in Evansville, IN. to deliver it. Maybe I'll have more time to play now!!
The International MetalMeet is coming up in just a few weeks if anyone is interested in learning the art of shaping sheet metal. It's open to anyone with a desire to learn and a willingness to swing a hammer!

Aluminum 1963 Impala fender. A week ago it was a 4x8 sheet of .063 3003 H-14

That's just totally freakin' awesome!

I know you said it was raw material just a week ago, but how many hours do you have invested into something like that?

Hi Guys,
Thanks again for your compliments!

Dubz, check out www.metalmeet.com for details. If you read the events page, you will get the whole story. It's held in my back yard in rural Robinson, IL., a small farming community about 2 hours west of Indianapolis, IN. We have a few spots still open for anyone wanting to attend. Please read the information provided on the metalmeet website for further instructions.

BstMech, I have about 60-70 hour invested in the fender. and another 30 or so in building the buck. However, the buck can now be used to make as many fenders as I want, as it's used primarily for fitting the panels to check for accuracy. Some parts of the buck I use to hammerform the areas that are tough to do any other way, but the buck is made to handle the abuse in those areas.

Randy

By the way why didn't you tell us your really Sammy Hagar with a shave and haircut?

Simply incredible! I'll stick w/ my good old Ed Roth fiberglass and hammer-it-close-and-bondo methods 'cause they are good enough for my purposes but I really enjoy seeing what you true artists can do.

Sammy was Van Halen's replacement for David Lee Roth back in the 80's.

And the one is John Mackenroe.

OK, I have heard of Van Halen, although I am not sure I know any music he has done.

The one you may know, and this is a sammy pre VH one is "I Can't Drive 55" That's one of his more popular ones, and most likely to be heard in car circles.
