metering valve

I switched from a single to a dual port master cylinder on a drum/drum brake setup. Is a metering valve necessary for the front brakes? I have a residual valve inline for my rear brakes. Thanks

By a residual valve do you mean proportioning valve? Did you find out what a metering valve does? If I recall correctly it insures the rear brakes apply a few milliseconds before the front ones do. Therefore, you are correct about not needing one for the front brakes.
