Micro-Hot Rod

There are HOT RODS and then there are hot rods. I'm building a 1972 Honda AZ600 microcar. The original engine was an air cooled twin-cylinder 600cc wheezer. It's getting a 2009 Kawasaki Concours ZG1400 four cylinder! That's a ZX14 with variable cam timing. A bit less power, but stronger midrange. Power will be sent to a rear differential. This is gonna be fun.

I'll be glad to keep you up to date. But so far the car project is in it's infancy. I have the car and the engine. I'm engineering the power transmission to a rear differential now. It's not simple. So little room to fit what it needs. And I do plan on it being a complete car with factory reliability and finish. This will probably take a couple of years.
I had a Road Star that I built to an 1800 beast and it was sweet. Now I have a Roadliner and it's sweeter. But the AZ600 needs MORE power than a V-Twin can give it. I shopped for a V-Max 1700, but they're impossible to find. So the AZ600 gets a "wimpy" ZG1400 engine.

The 600 Roadster had rear wheel drive, have you looked into that setup?
