4 posts are sweet, but not for my application.

Most of my use would be for body work.
My bad back necessitates no stooping,leaning,bending.

Mid lift, a stool & a chair would make life a lot easier Dam hard to get up off the floor from seated position without getting on hands and knees, then slowly continue to get up using a chair for support.

I would like to be able to move it from the shop to the "booth" and the mid lifts appear to be able to provide that function.

What do you mean by "mid rise lift"? Years ago I had a "Quicklift" that was basically a drive on ramp system. It lifted the car @ 2 ft. off the ground and you used a floor jack to lift the ramps to allow the drop down rear legs to lock them in place. This system is one of the few types for low ceiling height, It was well made, It worked ok, but you still have to crawl under the car to work on it! I think it would be fairly easy to use a set of wheel dollies to make the Quicklift portable,check the internet, they may even have a wheel kit now!

There are numerous brands, the one in the picture is GregSmith.

I have an Atlas brand lift with a 6000 lbs rating. It is great, however, there are a few drawbacks.

1) I have had several vehicles that scrub when driving on it. Need a couple of risers on each side of it. ( I use 2 X 12 's) but will be trying styrofoam glued to 1/4 plywood. to make them easier to handle.

2) Max lift of 58" (I think) is not quite high enough to sit on a rolling stool to work under.

3) If wheels are removed, and veh is let clear down it will not re-lift it without minor assistance.

4) The cable on the safety release is not as long as the hyd hose and is a trip hazard. And a longer cord is needed on the unit to eliminate an extension cord.

And pluses

5) For body work and painting it is the absolute best. Would not be without one now that I have used it. I feel it makes your finished product better to keep it at a good work height.

6) Able to raise and lower during painting without stirring up dirt and insure good coverage on the rockers and wheel wells. If you do not use pps cups it is hard to get a good gun angle.

7) Very happy with it overall.

Not a production lift, but a guy I know built this lift table, I believe from some loading dock equipment......very cool I thought

I have a four post lift that will go up high enough that I can almost stand straight up under the car and I'm 6'2". I can stop it on saftey pegs all the way up, I stop it and can do body work on the bottom side of a car no problem just pull my stool up and go. It will move with wheels anywhere in my shop,part of my shop has 15' ceilings,the other half 10'.

2 post and 4 post lifts are nice but not what I want or can use for my needs.

I really would like to hear from anyone that has bought or used one.

For example, my next door neighbor is also a car guy and it would be nice to be able to just tow it behind the lawn tractor right down the street and up hisdriveway for those times he could use it and I didnt have it occupied.
I would like to be able to move it between my shop, my garage and my storage building also.

Did you check the link i posted. They have tons of lifts similar to the one you posted.

No I don't own a lift But I've been wanting a 2 post for a while now.
The scissor lifts are the only portable ones I believe.
