It pays to shop around.... First thing is kind of get an idea what new ones are going for from various places. Like said above i would stick with name brand. I would also get out a few phone books and see if there is any welder repair shops around the area. Reason i say that is a few years ago when i spent about 2k for a miller 251. Like 2 weeks later a welder repair man walked into my shop n had like 8 miller 250's for 800.00 ea. With the way the economy has been it should not be very hard at all to find a nice used machine. If your boy friend is like any other guy out there. Then his first suggestion is probably the one he wants heheheheheh......

maxus welder

on the maxus welders I will say they are great welders I have the maxus 140 and it has been great very happy with this product. we use this welder here at our shop and it has performed great. the torch seems to be better quality then the torch on my hobart.
