Might say bye bye to the Gremlin???

Hello.
Ive been him hawing lately about offing my Gremlin. I started this project when my girls werent real old and werent real big on cruisin with dad. Well.....they are now and the Gremlin only has 2 seats.

So Ive been thinking about using my owed money and the money from the Gremlin to buy myself a 4 seater rail buggy. Maybe one with a beefed up VW engine or get the kind that uses a V8 and just build my motor and use it on there.

Im not 100% for sure, but its becoming a really big thought. Its not an impulse sell either. Ive been weighing out the pro's n cons for some time now.

Any input is appreciated. I just think instead of picking which girl goes on dads cruises, I should get something to take em both??? HG

Just build a second...

I just had to be a wise acre.

Doesn't the oldest one have a b/f by now? At best, you'll cruise what 3 nights a week? Take the one who helped with the build 2 of the 3 nights. Just my $.02.

In a while, Chet.

Say it isn't so.............................

Will you have to change your screen name to "Hemmi-4 seater rail buggy"?

Argggg, Hemmie! Tow one of them on their bicycle. You know you'll be self inflicting some serious butt kicking if you see the Gremmie on the street! Bummer, I think I'd look for something a bit bigger but not a sand rail, you're pretty limited on use and resale, how about something like an older sedan? Think of it this way, take your time, by the time the Gremlin is done the oldest can drive, Dad can follow her to the cruise in the family car. Dan

Be true to your dream.

I always wanted a little roadster...29..30..31..or even a 32. I bought a 49 FORD 2dr sedan instead so the 3 kids could go along..they did for a short while then it got old and they didn't want to go along. Decided after that I'd build what I wanted to drive. My current summer ride is a pro-street 53 Chevy 2dr sedan with 2 seats and a full roll cage. Actually the cruise in thing is lame to me. Go to a parking lot and set in a lawn chair and talk about the old days of racing and building...I drive my car every day in the summer.

Did you start the "Prostreet Gremlin" with the goal to produce a family car? How long before you have 1 daughter at home and the other just visiting now and then? How long before deciding which one rides is a non-issue because of differing schedules/visits? How long before, "I'd love to, Dad, but I have [a test to study for | a dance | a date | to go cruising the local dribble burger joint with friends | to pack for college | to take the kids to visit in-laws]"?

Who is the project for? Do you still want it? Is it still fun to work on?

I think your right fellas.
Ive got an idea to put a sporty bench seat in the front so the kids can all ride. Then switch to the racing buckets when there tired of me.
I may even try to put a folding seat between the rear wheel tubs??? Any ideas? HG

Uhhh, Yeah. What he said.

Would they be opposed to taking turns with the weekend cruises or trips to the dragstrip?

Keep this in mind. You don't know what you've got till its gone! I learned my lesson on this. Unless someone offers you an obscene amount of $$ keep it.

Yes, yes they would! LOL

My girls like there Dad. They love to go with me everywere and there not real understanding with taking turns sharing me. + I like to pick em up from school and if I wanted to drive the Gremlin then I could only get one of them.

I think I'll just keep it and try my idea of the bench seat for sure. Maybe the folding seat to. HG

You definitely lose your man card. From a 450 hp 354 to a 45 hp 1200cc?!? How the mighty have fallen.
