don't think a push pull fan set up is a good idea. First of all, the cfm will not be additive and second, the front pusher fan will restrict the flow to the puller fan.

if you are on a budget, get a used Ford Taurus fan for a V6 engine (also cam on t-birds). You can get them used for $25.00. A 2 speed fan where the low speed flow 2800 cfm and the high speed over 4000 cfm. Low speed pulls 12 amps and high speed around 30 amps. Don't power up both speeds at one time, as it will burn up the motor. Autozone sells the replacement motor for $70.00 if the motor burns up or has bad bearings.

Use two 10 gauge wires to feed power to the fan and power relay. use a 50 amp relay. A 30 amp and one 10 gauge wire will work, but for only 6 to 12 months before the relay burns up.

Finally, don't be surprised if a used fan doesn't have both speeds working. It is a crap shoot, but like I said, autozone sells replacement motors.

good luck.

Ya, I have heard of people using those fans, but.....seems like its more work then its worth lol.

The setup that I was talking about before with the two (2) 16" fans is not going to be a conventional push pull system.

If I could draw a picture I would, but the back puller fan is going to be on the right side of the rad (pass side).

The other pusher fan is going to be on the driver side of the rad on the front.

They will over lap in the middle maybe a couple inches, but other then that, there is no obstruction of airflow.

Its not so much about the money, but doing what works well and looks good doing it.

Each 16" fan is rated at 3,000 CFM, so I figure the least amount of airlfow I would get is 5,000 CFM.

Update: Problem solved.

I put the new fans on and it didn't get nearly as hot. Really beating on the motor and may have started to get up to 200 F at the most.

This is good enough for me. Thanks for all your help guys.

Also, as all you guys know, once you fix one thing, another thing breaks.

The half hour ride I got in on a cooler running engine, second gear on my TH350 gives out.......awesome.

I guess ill be making a new thread on where I should take the trans to have it built for 600 hp.....any ideas???

Thanks again guys.....

mine used to.

i have an '89 Camaro that had the same prob. its not the pump etc. I removed all the plastic cooling duct work and replaced it with thin galvanized sheet metal from the local home heating and cooling suppliers, not Home Depot etc. If you want pics, thats ez. Just look @ the area between the rad support and the front valance, i connected those two points w/flat sheet about 2' wide and formed vertical wings on the edges to keep from losing cool air. I also had to remove the plastic grille. My car is very sim to yours, and now it runs w/ac @ 160deg in 100+ heat in Va with no overheat problems(drive like you hate it)!

Well, the last time I used these guys the trans didn't last maybe 2 trailer pulls. When I had my local mechanic pull their trans and look inside, he said it had all used parts with a couple new parts put in. I wont be using these guys again.....appreciate the help though, any other suggestions?

did you contact mad dog lou and talk to him about your situation. Of coarse they would be used parts if you have 2 trailer pulls on it. How many miles did you have on the transmission?

Maybe 300 miles at absolute most. The problem is the truck doesn't get used much. By the time the trans had blown, it had only been used only a couple times. I will never use that company again, nor will I recommend it to anyone. I forget what happened to the trans they gave me, but I ultimately payed for two rebuilds. The second of which has lasted for years now, pulling many, many trailers.

so they replaced the trans for you and it has been working good now? That sucks that you had a bad experience with them because they are a very reputable trans shop.

They would not replace the trans. That's my problem with them. The trans went for a couple pulls and lost 80% of its a function. The new trans not supplied by them has lasted for years.
