You might check your local starter/alternator shop. I am using a late model starter from a vortec that has the old style gear installed. The local shop here sells them for $80 or so with warranty. Mine works great.

Thanks for the replies guys.
The best I can do the local starter/alternator shops is $159 for a rebuilt AC Delco starter, I figured I would be better off buying a brand new one in the $200-$250 range. I know that some of the newer stock replacement starters will work with my 400sbc but I can't find out which ones, and of coarse the all the auto part stores will only tell me what is listed for my car, very frustrating. I will continue to find a starter that will work for me, I don't need the power that the Powermaster XS has but it is the cheapest one I can find that will work, seen quite a few cheaper ones on Ebay but am afraid of Ebay...LOL 406chevelle Just found this one, what does everyone think of it??? http://www.dbelectrical.com/racestarter/pm300.shtml Thanks for the help, 406chevelle |

Hey 406, I have brand new ones just like the pic you showed, and I put one on mine also, if interested e-mail me kitch7@htdconnect.com. Your price would be $100.00, this would include freight (ups). Yes they are brand new, thanks
