Welcome You Back On some cars ... a mini tub will work. You can cut the upper section of the inner wheel-well and not cut the frame. I had a 65 Super Sport Chevelle many years ago but do not remember what the inner wheel-well looked like. I cut a 69 Nova with a mini tub type of deal and used a extra set of inner wheel-wells to make the tubs out of. Got about 2 inches of room. I painted it like the original trunk was and passed it off as uncut ( I drag raced it ... )

On the 65 Chevelle the inner rear wheel well is RIGHT at or flush with the outer part of the frame. So just dealing with the well itself will not gain me anything. I don't want to do a full tub because of cost and I still want to drive it around on the road and want semi safe handling. I can cut the frame (notch it) my concern is wellding the right strength into the notch...because my BBC will twist that in a second. Then I won't need narrowed rearend I will just need to find a deeper backspacing wheel offset. Thoughts? Thanks for your time. |
