I used simple e-bay peep mirrors on my glass bodied coupe. Didn't mount them to the top of the doors though. Modified the mounts so I could bolt them to the door just above the handle. Work just fine there and I think they look pretty good.

I use a pair of the peep mirrors on my 31 coupe, but when I discovered that you can't twist the head far enough to see behind you, due to the angle of the cab/body in that area, I built an aluminum wedge to go between the cab (top of door) and mirror base. this allows enough adjustment to make them work fine. the alum adaptor is drilled and tapped for two screws that come in from the top edge of the door.

I think peep mirrors come in two sizes 3.5'' or 4'', what ever,, I had the small ones and they weren't enough, so I have swan mirrors, They're still in the box some where, they're 4 or 5''. I think a bigger mirror is better.

Mirrors.....

I'm looking for much more of a streamline look and have found only one model of new car mirror that doesn't mount to the corner of the window, but to the body. It's on a Honda fit, 2007 or so. I'll prolly have to demake the mounting base to fit my 37 Terraplane, but being able to use modern components, as well as adding turn signals to your mirrors, er....my mirrors, is a great safety item.

Have you looked at Vision Hot Rod Concepts? If you're in to body color and swoopy, they have some good choices. I'm using them on my 55 PU and am satisfied with the product. Wish they did an electronic control one though.
