Mixing Primer/Paint

I'm going to mix primer for this first time this weekend and could you use some sound advice. I bought the epoxy primer + thinner, mixing cups, strainers, mixing sticks... now what?

Do you guys have any references I can use to explain mixing ratios? I know it's probably very simple, but I don't understand the lines and numbers on the mixing cups.

Thanks!

Search the forum, I asked multiple things on mixing ratios. If it says on your primer to mix it one to one. Means for every drip of primer you have to put a drip of activator. 2:1 is two drips primer one drip activator etc etc... Just mix small amounts not the whole can. I mixed enough at once to fill my paint cup one and a half times. So if your cup hold one quart mix up a quart and a half. Also remember that once you pour that activator in the primer, do not pour the left over back in the can or use the paint stick or mixer in the unactivated primer. MOST IMPORTANT IS BEFORE YOU SPRAY PRACTICE ON A SIMILAR SURFACE TO WHAT YOU ARE PAINTING< DON'T JUST JUMP INTO IT OR YOU WILL REGRET IT< TRUST ME I DID!!!!

it should be 1to 1 mix maybe 4 to1 mix depending what primer u r using. . depending what cups u have they might be marked along the top ridge 1, 4, 6, 8, to 1 find the 1 to 1 etc and fill the primer to the 1 line. then ad the hardener to the next line 2. would make it 1 to 1 only mix as much as u need this goes for the base color and the top coat and buy an egg timer for flash times 15 minutes is longer then u think

Mixing ratio will be on the can. The higher # will be the primer and the lower is the activator. For best results on your body work, spray 4 good coats, 15 mins between coats. If you got the primer just for bare metal you are looking for sealer and not a high build primer, this is for smoothing out body work.
