Model A Front End

I am relatively new at this so please bear with me. My brother-in-law and I have a project '29 Model A Fordor that I want to update with current technology. All I keep hearing is to replace the front end with a Mustang II front end, yet my brother-in-law says he has seen cars like this with the original suspensions and only the spindles changed out. Is this a) possible, b) Safe, or c) just stupid? Any help will make me feel a whole lot better!

Mustang two does not look good on fenderless model A's ( in my opinion) and if you run fenders there is really not enough room for the M-2. Yes you can either use your stock axle or you can do like I did...I used a four inch dropped axle ( aftermarket) to get the front end lower. You change out your front spindles using 37-41 ford type spindles. These are available as a aftermarket and you can get kits to put your choice of Ford or Chevy disc brakes on them. You can get everything you need from Speedway...they will even send you a free catalog. Go to www.speedwaymotors.com

Henry,

Thanks for the info! I ordered a catalog from the company. Lots of good stuff there. Do you have some pics of your car that I could see? Thanks again,

John
