Model A number on floor support

i found a number on my 29 A floor support...the number is W1579... can this number be used when registering the car or no? just wondering because im unable to locate the number on the frame due to rust..

That is not a Model 'A' serial number.

All Model 'A' Ford serial numbers began with a star symbol followed by the letter A (or AA for the larger trucks) and then about 7 numbers and then the star symbol again.

Look on the drivers side, top of the frame in the cowl area. The serial number is normally hidden from view by the body. It will not be visible when the body is mounted. The original serial number was stamped on the engine block and the frame.

You might try to register with the number you found, but it more than likely is a part ID number and if that is the case then all Model 'A's would end up having the same serial number.

I think the number you found is the assembly plant number. See the link for more info. Assembly Plant
