model a sedan..mini tubs?

Looking to put wider tires in back of my 31 model a sedan. I don't want to widen fenders so that they stick out. I tried a wider tire, but as I lowered the body it hit the inner wheel well. I know guys have mini tubbed coupes, but with the fender hanging off the back of the sedan body I don't know if I can "adjust" the wheel tubs to accomodate larger tires. I don't have pics to show what I mean but anyone who may have some experience with this chime in and thanks for input. Oh yea, the frame is currently "C" notched, but it looks like I may have to "Z" it to lower the back end, If I can make tires fit.

I tubbed my tudor sedan quite a bit in the rear. First off it is a lot of work the inner fenders or tubs are the easy part. I just tied those to the top of the body line that is above the fenders.(mines a 30-31)and made a cardboard pattern first. Then I decided the back fenders needed some help so I bobbed them by 4inch's and had them widened by almost 11in. then I cut 4 inches of the body and rebuilt the body line. you can check it out in my project journal. it is probably more extreme than you are looking for but its the same basic idea. I wanted a pro street car with standard width fenders.

I believe many people mini tub the rear and then run coupe fenders. As coupe fenders are that much wider on the inboard side to accommodate the mini tub. That's what I'm going to do.

thank you fastsx321, great pics. You are right, I don't think that I want to go to the extreme that you did. I love what you did but my look is going to be an old school hot rod. Your pics did give me some insight to what I would run into though. I am also hoping to run a 32 gastank, so there is another variable
blwn31: I do have a set of coupe fenders also and Yes they are wider, but I will have to check, cause I think the radius is different also. I guess the fact that the fenders on the sedan hang out further than the back of the body has me a little leary on the outcome. fastsx321 widened his fenders EXACTLY how I pictured...GREAT JOB and enjoy that ride! Thank you both for your input. I will look at the possibility of those coupe fenders TODAY!
