Question modulator valve

Should a mod. valve vacuum line be hooked up directly to the intake or to a ported source on the carb? If carb is the answer, which port?

the modulator valve should be connected to the intake manifold directly, usually there is a vacume tree just behind the carb, ported vacume will give the wrong signal to the tranny
