mopars

On 71 road runners was the grill all black or just part black.
what about interior was it just bucket seats or did they have splitbench seats. On the top did they have vinel or just the hard top.
What about the engine did they have a 318 road runner in 71 or was it a 340.
I have a satlelite that has a 318 and i want to make it as period correct as possible. I do not want to copy a road runner but to have people wonder is it a road runner or what? please tell me anything everyone had on there cars in 1971 and how they did everything in the 50s, 60s ,and 70s. such as the whole fuzy dice thing did they do that in the 70s. quarter windows full of stickers of performance parts. glasspacks to the rear end or all the way out.
I have old american racing coke bottles for wheels with 295 50 15s from the 70s. I just need as much info as i can get. thanks everyone

Skip the glasspacks and run just pipe all the way out the back, it'll make that 318 sound a heck of a lot larger I'm sure there are Mopar sites that can help with the Roadrunner questions, I'm not a Mopar fan. I owned a 67 Charger 383 4speed car with purple shaft cam, 11-1 compression, weiand tunnel ram with 2 600's, fenderwell headers years ago and it was a mutt. The 71 440 plymouth sport fury I had wasn't bad but most of the chevy small block cars I've owned would run circles around these two cars. Mope-ar

I second Moparts, you should have bought a nice little "a" body with a screaming small block. Baddbob.

The trouble with Chevys is that no matter what you do to them you still blend into the woodwork since everyone else has one just like it.

Back in my younger days when I felt I had to prove something to everyone else I campaigned my bone stock (except for headers) '69 383 RoadRunner and in two years of bracket racing the only Chevy small block that beat me was a highly modified Nova. Which reminds me, any hacker can build a Chevy but it takes a real man to build a Mopar.

I shoulda kept my mouth shut, the chevy vs. mopar vs. ford vs. amc debate will go on forever I think. That's a good thing though IMO.

I still love ya bob.

I thrash Chevy's every weekend almost as they are cheap to build and most machine shop's aren't very Mopar oriented around here.

Besides, The fastest drag cars in the world regardless of "brand" run HEMI'S anyway. 'Nuf said.

I personaly like mopar bodys but have never seen a mopar bracket car that was fast.
mopars have the 60s and 70s because of the hemi.

but when it comes to muscle cars MOPARS ARE BAD A_s

I have heard so many old mopar racing stories.

But chevys rule because the parts are vary availible.

Not because they make more power but because of parts.

that is my opinion
sorry to anyone i have offended

sounds to me like you have a vinyl top car with a bench seat and a 318.
Let me let you in on a secret. A hemi car or a six pack car can be a bad thing because everybody expects you to restore it back to original with the numbers correct parts which can make it so expensive that it's no fun anymore. The good thing about a 318 car is you can make it anything you want an it will always improve it.
yes! 71 RR's had vinyl tops. in fact they had vinyl half tops also. and GTX's had vinyl tops too. Bench seat interiors are real common on all MoPaRs. I once owned a 71 Cuda with a bench seat and a column automatic. the 318 doesn't look any different than a 340 and unless you know mopars real well you cant tell the differance. Got rusty beat up bumpers? No problem Paint them body color and make a rubber bumper car. Add a wing and your styling. And as for the 318 well its bigger than a 5.0 comes with 230 hp and can be built up pretty resonably to 400 hp.
Good luck on your project. My next car will be a clone
