Arrow More on the camshaft....

i have a 79 T/A with a 403 olds motor (original and stock)... thanks for the advice about going with comp cams, but the other part is weather i should run a roller cam mechanical or hydraulic???

i would recomend a mechanical roller cam, if you are running roller rockers you shouldnt need to adjust them more that once, but they do make more noise than the hydraulic ones and you mignt not be able to get one that is mild enough.. this is crane cams mechanical roller profiles, but comp can spec you one just like it or even a custom one for your specifig needs http://www.cranecams.com/lobemaster/mechroll.htm#SR

i wouldnt go above 240@.050 lift if i were you, but that is a very capable cam in a large engine, a froend of mine is runnig a 244SR in a LS7 with merlin cast iron heads and he i smakeing 640 streetable horsepower. but its not quiet...
