more fuel/carb problems

I posted earlier about my 350 barely running. I got the mechanical pump back in, but I am having the same problem as before, I am getting a low idle, doesn't matter how much I adjust the throttle. When I put it in drive, I can almost hear a pop in the exhaust. The rpm's drop and engine sounds like it's gonna stall. I blew the line from the fuel inlet with air, seemed to have a very small clog, then it fired up. I am wondering what the fuel pressure should be at at idle and should it be the same in gear? I plugged the return line in hope that if there was a clog it would keep the excess gas in the pump. I am gonna use a plastic tank from my escort if the problem is tank related. I am gonna go get a new fitting for my fuel pressure tester, and I will post numbers tomorrow. Does anyone think that it could be a carb problem? I am using a 2month old edelbrock 600cfm, I made no adjustments to it, as it said it was set for sbc, it ran fine until now..... any help is appreciated.
