i'm putting repair panels in and painting a 70s era vw bus. front has alot of pitting. I got alot of metal work done, but still have the front and rocker areas.

i started the job with dupont 2580 Epoxy Chromate CR. I bought new supplies online and now have the following:

1 Gallon Pastel White BC (1k)-same as PPG MBC-80$

1 Gallon Urethane Clear (2k) -same as PPG OMC 161-80$

1 Gallon Primer (2K)-High Build Urethane Primer.140$

The problem I had was the paint supplier couldn't get my primer order

straight. Then the reply became "this is what you want". They shipped.

I calledback and when the BOSS started off by saying "2K" stands for epoxy,

i knew i had trouble. Then he said the primer they shipped is" THE CADILLAC

of primers and I want the CHEVY of primers, and epoxy or urethane (resins) is

just SEMANTICS". THen as if to possibly psyche me out? HE made it sound

like this 2k urethane high build primer i have was of great value, and i CAN return

this primer and he'll ship me two gallons of the epoxy i want, which is somehow

now understood to be epoxy primer sealer.??

OK now I have these products. Shipping the 2K urethane primer back, is an option, or Should i just BUY MORE of the Dupont 2580 to address the remaining rusty bleed through areas? Then use the high build opver filler? I would welcome any suggestions for another supplier as well.

I'm confused as to what "remaining rusty bleed through areas" means???? Are you putting epoxy sealer over the rust???

the earlier primer was etch in an aerosol and wasnt top coated. so yes this is where i want to strip and recoat starting with the dupont- or like epoxy.
