More traction device questions . . .
Having a few more traction device questions here. First off, I am working with a 66 GMC with rear leaf spring suspension. The leaf springs are ON TOP of the rear end, and all the traction bar type setups I have seen are installed on rears with the leaf springs UNDER the rear end.
When I wrote Lakewood asking them if they had soemthing for my setup (which I described in an e-mail to them) they said they didn't have anything specific, but recommended their standard universal traction bar setup. Here is what they recommended Well it so happens that my local parts store has this exact setup in stock so I picked them up and brought them home. I was planning on working on them tomorrow and putting on some new shocks at the same time. Well, looking at it, I cant fathom how they are going to work with the leaf springs OVER the rear end. So I am now looking for options. Any way to make these work? Is there something I am missing? Is there any other type of setup that is reasonable as far as cost and work involved that will help cure my wheel hop/axle wrap? Please enlighten me lol. Thanks.

help bump this it was kinda low down there on the page,
My dad had some on a 64 chev II nova with a 327 it still got wheel hop like crazy, but not as much as before installing... They're decent, anything that helps a lil right. Have you seen the kind that bolt up or can be welded...they almost look like ladderbars or trailing arms or something of the sorts.. weld up to the axel and then to the frame they pivot like trailing arms. hookedto frame [¤]==arm====[¤] <-axel, (¤=pivot point) there's a journal somewhere on here someone made a set. I tried to find it but i couldn't, i cant remember who it was for the life of me . someones gotta know what im talkin bout....Also mabey it's possible to put the leafs under the axel then hook em up, or would that pose other problems, im not too sure about that one. **edit- found a link to the type i was talking about http://www.classicperform.com/produc...ction-Bars.htm possibly not too difficult to make a pair if your decently skilled ![]() Good luck to ya siggy. |
