More turbo 400 problems

I just replaced the sprag in my reverse manual valve body 400 and all was fine. About a week ago it started getting slow to take reverse, I could pull it into reverse and it would hesitate a second and then be fine. It shifts perfectly and it pulled fine in reverse until today. Now when you put it in reverse it moves a little then stops and will not move any more. It still shifts firmly from 1st to 2nd and then into 3rd but it will not move but about a foot in reverse and then will not pull any more. The trans fluid looks and smells like it just came out of the bottle. What do you think bad clutches, fluid problem Please help this thing has been the most unreliable thing I have ever dealt with Thanks for any and all help.

Depending on the vavlve body manufacturer, you may have a hydraulic problem. Some valvebody makers use a vented accum. circuit to allow the rear servo to apply. Does it apply reverse firmly, then fade, or does it slip on apply also?
If so, suspect a band or servo problem.
Line pressure tests would help...
