Motor dont sound good

Hello everyone I have a 1992 chevy Z71 with 85 thousand miles very clean truck 5.7 350 but ever since i bought the truck it makes a pinging noise or like the valves are rattling very loud only when its over half throttle or in a little bit of a strain expecially when im pulling something. the noise will quit soon and the check enging light will come on and it wont do it any more but u can turn the switch off and back on and its like it starts over and it will do it again ive set my timing and put a new MAP sensor on it and it still does it. I just can figure it out. Ive also put all kinds of gas in it and it still does it but not as bad when u put 93 octane in it.

You need to get it scanned and fixed BEFORE you burn a hole in a piston!

There is a timing or egr problem that needs to be fixed.

Could be a knock sensor, but yeah it needs to be scanned anyway.

Bad knock sensor, while idling, have someone tap on the block with a hammer close to the sensor, while watching the timing, it should retard!

How's the mileage? Have you noticed a significant difference lately?
