Motor mounts for a 39 ford pickup
 

I am trying to come up with the best and easiest solution for installing a sbc into my 39 ford ratrod. (motor mounts) The frame is boxed. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.....

There's lots of hot rod shops that have that stuff but look at www.speedwaymotors.com, you may have to trim them for a tight fit but they will have what you need.

X2 on the Speedway setup. Simple, functional and cheap. Used them on my 27 T roadster with a SB Ford. Different engine.....same result.

i usually just buy a typical set of motor mounts for a sbc and a piece of 3/8 tubing for the main bolt and start welding from there. easy peasy. :)

You could easily make mounts from 1" tubing.. Thats usually what I do.. :D

It's all great if you're a fabricator and ya want to do some $500 motor mounts.(your time at $20 hr, materials and consumables) The Speedway, and others, solution is an acceptable mount for a boxed frame that only requires one weld per side and does the job in a clean, simple fashion. I applaud creativity but many don't have the equipment and sometimes it just isn't worth it.

Do you have a welder, or access to one?

Motor mount's can be built almost as fast as it takes you to order your's.... ;)

The great thing of building them...You can make something that speedway doesn't sell like these.. :thumbup:

I buy alot of things from speedway don't get me wrong,,, But not motor mount's... :nono:

And it doesn't take more then a hour and you don't have to have special tool's to do it..

Even been told I don't build them right..... :eek: Go figure !!!! :D

Oh, I understand journey but I also like to get to a destination sometimes. The one set of mounts looks really nice but the original question said "best and easiest" and the person already has the frame done. I picked on easy because that was part of what was asked and didn't know the skill level of the questioner. And again, if you ever want to get to the "destination" you have to make some choices about where you spend your time. Really nice, distinctive mounts on a car with an open front is great. If you're putting a M-2 front into that 50's chevy frame, it makes sense for you to do your own mounts. I'm currently trying to get to the "destination" on a 55 Chevy PU and I just used the mounts on the Camaro clip, simple but not flashy or time consuming. I chose to spend my time on narrowing a 9 inch and related 4 link suspension so a set of Hoosier 31x16.50x17's will fit under the fenders. At the risk of having a urinating contest, at the show, I think people will notice more where I spent my time. Because I "can" fabricate, I don't always think it's the best use of my time and I don't assume everyone who wants to take part in this automotive insanity has the same tools and/or ability. I DO know SOMETHING about hot rodding, but I USED to know EVERYTHING about hot rodding.....then I got older. ;)
