I must be missing something. why can't you cut out the old Olds mounts, bolt the 454 mounts to the block, drop the engine in and align it where you want it, then tack weld the mounts to the frame. pull out the engine and give the mounts a good weld. there must be some reason why you can't do this, but just in case you've missed the obvious...

I would get nova big block frame mounts which should bolt in just fine and just use the motor mounts that are on the engine. One thing to remember is that you want the clam shell or safety type frame mounts of you are going to use the truck engine mounts with them. I can't remember what your they switch over to the clam shell type mounts I think its was about 72 I'm sure some one here will know for sure.

454 mounts

this is what i did to my 77 T/A , went to my chevy dealer and ordered upper and lower mounts for a 1970 BB camaro, no welding. i did have to drill new locating holes in the front cross member, before you drill drop the BB & trans in, bolt the trans to the cross member this will tell you were to put the new holes, this way the drive shaft be correct and any other hook up. hope this helps you.

I was gonna say this if you decide to weld the mounts in. Don't let the full weight of the motor rest on the mounts when mocking it together. You'll play he!! getting the bolts through when it's time to set the motor on the mounts after welding. Just let the mounts come into contact with the crossmember and it'll set in there perfectly when you put the motor back in.
