motor rebuild

this will be my first post. I have 84 caprice classic that i just brought im starting with the engine and want to built one i was thinking about a 383 stroker or go with a 400..what would i need for the build

Most will say the 400 even me. 383 pretty sweet though depends on which block you have on hand and what parts you already have also.
And how much is your budget for this build your gonna probably need a gear change and different converter. IMHO

I would try to track down a vortec roller 1pc rear main seal block. Then get a scat cast steel crank and their rods with some hypereutectic pistons. Then invest in a good roller cam along with the factory vortec heads. Swap to a carbed intake and you should be sitting in the 400hp range no problem. I will be doing a build very similar to this next time I have some extra money kicking around. Im hoping around 425hp when im done with it though.
