Motorcycle Tanks, Sharpe Finex and Waterborne Paint (Auto Air)

Hi Guys,

I'd like to get my newbie HVLP setup squared away for painting my Triumph's tank this fall and I'm considering the Sharpe series of guns as a stepping-off point. I've got a 60-gallon, 15 cfm @ 40 psi compressor and I'd like to use the Sharpe FX300 (1.8mm) as a primer gun and the FX100 (1.0mm) as a base coat/clear gun. After doing some research, I'm going to give Auto Air colors a shot; however, I haven't been able to track down whether the Sharpe Finex guns are suited for spraying waterborne paint. On top of that, I'm unsure if the FX100 will be large enough for laying paint and clear down on a motorcycle tank. Is it too small of a gun for painting tanks? Should I be looking at a larger gun?

Thanks for reading.

Cheers,
Moped
